Jo Hughes - Assistant Trainer

Jo Hughes - Assistant Trainer

Jo comes originally from an eventing and show jumping background in Cumbria and worked as a nurse to be able to keep her horses. She met Paul ten years ago when he was employed as a private trainer in Cumbria. He first persuaded her to ride out; then followed a few point-to-point rides, progressing to the Flat and All-weather. She has ridden winners on the Flat and under National Hunt rules. Jo is now a vital cog in the Felstead Court racing machine and rides out daily, as well as assisting Paul with entries and race preparation.

Bronwyn Foxon - PA

Bronwyn makes the office tick, handling all the administrative duties generated by a busy office. She comes from an equestrian family – her father was a cavalry officer with the King’s Hussars. As well as working for Paul, she co-trains and rides out point-to-pointers.

Paul uses the best available and selects jockeys to suit his horses - champion Jamie Spencer, Paul Hanagan and Eddie Ahearn.

Mark Bradburne - National Hunt jockey

Mark Bradburne - National Hunt jockey

It seemed inevitable Mark would become a jockey. His father and mother - she now trains at the family home in Fife - were successful amateur jockeys. Mark turned professional in 2001 and to date has ridden almost 200 winners, riding principally for Henry Daly, his mother and Paul. Mark is married to the former leading female jockey Gee Armytage. They have a young son named Thomas and live in Lambourn. His successes, include two Cheltenham Festival winners; Hand in Hand in the Ascot Chase and a creditable third in the 2004 Grand National with Lord Atterbury.

Frankie McDonald - Lightweight jockey

Frankie has ridden 130 winners on the Flat, including six in Spain. He was apprentice for Brian Meehan where he gained most success but decided to go freelance when Brian moved to Manton. Born in County Cavan, he learned his trade at the Irish Apprentice School before joining Frank Berry at The Curragh. His big winners include Sienna Gold in the Newbury Super Sprint and Silence is Golden in the Roseberry Handicap at Kempton.

Work Riders

Paul always uses experienced jockeys for serious work - T.P. O’Shea; Kevin Ghunowa; Gabriel Hannon; Manav Nem; Graham Gibbons and Ashley Price
